After their death, the castle passed down through many owners until it met its demise at the hands of arsonists in the 1960s. It remained in the ownership of the Slykes till 1940 until they passed away. It was built in 1900 by Willam Porter and initially named “Foxcroft.” But when the owner died and his wife married Warren Van Slyke the mansion was also renamed.
